What is the difference between core and custom programming?
Muzak offers over 90 core programs in the widest range of genres imaginable. Core programs are available to any client in the world and most any business type can enhance their brand with a core program. Custom sonic branding solutions meet the needs of clients with very specific requirements for artist and song selection — often regional or national brands with many locations.
Do you distribute my content to sites like iTunes?
No.
What does Muzak offer that other music licensing entities don’t?
100 million listeners, approximately 500,000 client locations, nearly $30 million in annual royalties paid towards promotional and Web site music licensing – in short, access to the most exposure opportunities and most reward.
Where are Muzak’s clients located?
Throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Japan.
Where is Muzak headquartered?
Fort Mill, SC, in the metro Charlotte, NC region. We also have a national sales and service network.
Where can content be sent to be considered or played in Muzak’s promotional music programs?
Muzak Attn: Licensing Department 3318 Lakemont Boulevard Fort Mill, SC 29708
How might my record label benefit from sending content prior to its release date?
Depending upon the delivery format our clients use, the time between completing a program for production and the client actually receiving the branded music CD can be a month or two. The sooner we have your content, the sooner it will be heard in our clients’ locations.
What’s up with Muzak? I thought you guys just re-recorded original songs.
No way! Muzak started working with original artist material in 1984 — one of the first songs was Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, since then, custom sound branding programs from Muzak have expanded to include genres such as new indie rock, skate punk, hip-hop, alternative country, contemporary Italian, ‘80s hits, American roots, classic soul, Latin pop and New Orleans music, among many others.
What is the difference between on-premise and satellite music programs?
Our satellite programs reach our clients from one of three satellites. This format provides the greatest value to our clients, as they can manage their service online, instantly change their program selection to reflect their music branding initiatives and receive automatic program updates. But clients can’t always use satellite service — they may be unable to place a dish on their building or have other extenuating circumstances. For them, disc-based media is best. Custom promotional CDs are also how we deliver the majority of custom programs.
